The INTERNATIONAL THERAPY EXAMINATION COUNCIL was founded in 1973 to set and maintain high standards in the practice of beauty therapy by establishing authoritative courses leading to formal examinations
Since then the syllabus has been extended considerably and now includes a wide range of subjects which are covered by foundation courses. Complementary therapies and SPECIALIST SUBJECTS. Students must qualify in the appropriate Foundation Subject(s)before embarking on tuition in Complementary therapies and Specialist Subjects.
ITEC is independent of any association or society (although it works closely with all reputable bodies) and can thus offer the impartiality and objectivity that is essential in an examining body.
Over 400 educational establishments are registered with ITEC throughout the world. These include State Colleges of Further and Higher Education, Private Colleges/Schools and Tutors. During the last academic year ITEC conducted over 26,000 examinations.
Through its Complementary Therapies sector, particularly Anatomy, Physiology, and Body Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology, ITEC offers nurses, midwives, medical auxiliaries and practitioners a most sought after additional skill. Much work is taking place in Hospices, Hospitals, and Nursing Homes where the value of these specialised treatments would be difficult to evaluate. It is appreciated by all.
